North East Catch Cap

The part of the North East Catch Cap not in the East Coast Stock Rebuilding Zone is open to commercial fishing from 00:01am on Friday 10 April 2026.​

The part of the North East Catch Cap from Point Sorell (line of longitude 146º 32' 00" east) to north of Red Rocks (latitude 41° 00' 15'' South) is open to commercial fishing. The remaining area, from north of Red Rocks (line of latitude 41° 00' 15'' south) to St Helens Point (latitude 41° 16' 30" South), is in the East Coast Stock Rebuilding Zone and closed to commercial fishing on Monday 4 May 2026.

The North East Coast Catch Cap has been set at 110 tonnes for the 2026/27 season commenci​ng 1 March 2026.  

The North East Catch Cap area encompasses waters east of the line of longitude 146° 32' east off Point Sorell  around to latitude 41° 16' 30" south off St Helen​s Point, including the Furneaux Group of Islands (see map at bottom of this page). Please note some GPS coordinates are in degrees, minutes, seconds, and if using a different GPS format the coordinates must be accurately​ converted.
