Frequently asked questions
Why do I need to record more information now?
The Tasmanian Marine Plant fishery needs to meet standards set by DAWE to maintain export approval for kelp and undaria. The Marine Plant Commercial Fishing Docket Book has been updated to meet these standards and collect data relating to interactions with threatened, endangered and protected species, and the percentage of beach-cast kelp that is harvested from each specific area.
Do I need to complete a nil return if I haven’t harvested any marine plant?
Yes – you must complete a docket sheet for every month of the year, even if you have not harvested marine plant.
I have more than one marine plant licence type, do I need a separate Marine Plant Commercial Fishing Docket Book for each licence?
No, you do not need multiple books. Within your one docket book, you must complete a new docket sheet per licence type, and per month. You will specify the licence type each record relates to in the space provided at the top of the docket sheet.
