What’s the difference between Tas eFish and Fishing Tas apps?
The Tas eFish app is for commercial rock lobster and giant crab fishers. It provides a digital alternative to the current telephone reporting service, simply transitioning existing regulatory processes onto a digital platform.
This is different to the Fishing Tas app, which is for
recreational rock lobster fishers to report their catch. This is a new requirement starting on 2 December 2023. The
Fishing Tas app will be available to download in late November 2023. Learn more about recreational rock lobster catch reporting.
The Tas eFish app is a key deliverable from the Fisheries Digital Transition Project (FDTP). Find out more about how we’re transitioning commercial fisheries into the digital age through FDTP.
Can I use Tas eFish to make a prior-fishing scalefish report?
A prior-fishing scalefish report cannot currently be made using the Tas eFish App.
Commercial rock lobster licence holders who also hold a scalefish licence must make a prior-fishing scalefish report if they intend on taking scalefish (currently approved as Pre-Fishing SF Report – SF1).
Commercial rock lobster licence holders who also hold a scalefish licence must make a prior-fishing report if they intend on taking scalefish by telephone on 1800 067 470 or 03 8199 7343. Fishers should record the receipt number in the comments section of the Commercial Catch, Effort and Disposal Record.
