​​​​​​​We run a range of events to engage fishers and the wider community including learn to fish clinics. You can also catch up with the Fishcare team at regional fishing events and community shows.​

You only need to book tickets for active participants. Family members are welcome to come along.

Public Clinics 

  • Everyone is welcome, see dates and times above.
  • ​All ages and levels of expertise are welcome.​
  • If numbers exceed safety levels, participants actively fishing on the platform may be limited, but everyone gets a turn!
  • Parents are responsible for supervising their children.​

​​School and ​Community Group Clinics

These clinics can be organised with Fishcare by prior arrangement and are not open to the public. If your school or group is interested in a clinic, please contact one of our Coordinators to check availability using the contact details below.

​What to bring

  • Rods and gear are available to use.
  • We have PFDs - Fishcare may ask you to wear one.
  • Bring warm clothing, sun protection, food and drink if required.

What will I learn?

  • Basic fishing skills including casting, knot tying and rigging.
  • Responsible fishing such as measuring, handling and releasing your catch.
  • How to have fun in the Tassie outdoors!

All children and young people have the right to be safe and to feel safe. We have zero tolerance of child abuse and harm. Please report any observation of behaviour by Fisheries or Fishcare staff member that causes concern using our reporting form.
