- Australian salmon, mullet, sand flathead, whiting, pike and cod.
Local fishing facts
- You'll find easily accessible shore fishing at Port Sorell and Squeaking Point jetties, Mersey Bluff and the Leven River. Catches of large Australian salmon are common from beaches and rocky headlands.
- From a boat you can catch silver trevally, snapper, bluespotted flathead, snook, pike, blue warehou, tailor, gurnard, barracouta, mako and gummy shark (outside the shark refuge area).

There is an emerging fishery for King George whiting, salmon, snapper and yellowtail kingfish in the Port Sorell area.
- Port Sorell is a
Shark Refuge Area. No taking of sharks, skates or rays other than elephantfish.
- Recreational gillnetting is not allowed in the Port Sorell estuary. Commercial gillnetting is being phased out of this estuary with only two fishers allowed to fish.
