Popular fishing spots

Burnie Boat Ramp, Cooee Point, Doctors Rocks, Wynyard Wharf, Boat Harbour, Sisters Beach, Rocky Cape, Stanley Wharf, East and West Inlet, Godfrey’s Beach, Duck Bay, Montagu, Arthur River and Marrawah.

What will I catch from shore?

  • Warehou, flathead, Australian salmon, mullet, wrasse and squid.  

Points of Interest

  • The North West Coast is known for its rugged coastline and excellent saltwater fishing.
  • From a boat you can target species like barracouta, gurnard, sweep, bluespotted flathead, King George whiting, snapper and shark.
  • No seine or gillnets can be used in Robbins Passage.  For other no netting areas, please see the Recreational Sea Fishing Guide or Fishing Tas app.
  • In the warmer months, schools of Australian salmon and blue warehou migrate along the coast.
  • The North West Region has many remote fishing areas.  Report any suspected illegal fishing to Fishwatch on 0427 655 557.
