Limpets are small sea snails known for attaching firmly to rocks, and are commonly found around Tasmania in the intertidal and subtidal zones. The shells are oval shaped and can have radiating ribs.
Limpets that are protected are those which are typically found in the intertidal zone, within wading and fossicking depths in Tasmania. Types of limpets that are currently protected are:
- Orange-Edged Limpet (Cellana solida)
- Keyhole Limpets (any of the Fissurelloidea superfamily)
- True Limpets (any of the Patelloidea superfamily)
- False Limpets (any of the Siphonarioidea superfamily)
